The Former National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) CEO Simeon ole Kirgotty was arrested on in his Nairobi home over 1.5 billion shillings graft probe.

Simeon Kirgotty was arrested alongside two others, Gilbert Gathuo who is the Head of ICT and Robert Mureithi ahead of Webtribe Company.

The trio was taken to Muthaiga Police station from where they were transferred to the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters for questioning.

DCI investigators have been looking into documents at the NHIF offices in efforts to unearth a suspected financial scandal regarding the digital payment system.

This comes a few days after CEO Geoffrey Mwangi and Finance Director Wilbert Kurgat were freed on bail after they were suspended by the board over allegations of obstruction of justice. More than 14 other NHIF top officials are expected to be arraigned in court as the case develops.

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Managing Director, Joe Sang was also separately arrested together with a number of top officials at the company after being implicated in a 1 billion shilling scam.

Joe Sang had opted out of the pipeline company once the investigations began raising eyebrows on the level of ailment at the company.

These are just but a few of the companies regarded as cash cows for the mighty and corrupt where taxes are easily swindled and accountability is an alien term.
