Merry Christmas, Rejoice But January is coming

Merry Christmas everyone! It is a happy day. Isn’t it? Let us rejoice. Let us have fun. Eat. Drink. Sing. Dance. But as it is the norm, remember those who do not have anything to neither eat nor drink. If you have more than enough, give something out to them.

This Christmas has come at a time the economic environment is not friendly. Almost everyone has his pocket “damaged” in one way or another. The implementation of the 8 percent VAT on petroleum products and with the increasing inflation rate just made things worse.

As you celebrate this Christmas, remember that January is coming, a month that is always the “longest” for those will not have money. So, eat today, but remember tomorrow is coming and for your information, your friends will not have money to help you out too. Asking them for cash, as if it is them who don’t know how to use theirs for Christmas is an embarrassment.

For those parents whose children sat for the Kenya Certificate Primary Education (KCPE), 2019 will be very difficult if you will use everything today. The children will officially be joining form one and parents will be running up and down looking for the much-needed school fees. As you celebrate Christmas, have your kid in mind and put their school fees aside.

As you celebrate this Christmas, remember to put aside your fare back to your workplace (for those who traveled to the villages). You don’t want to start disturbing your friends with “nisaidie fare nitakurudishia nikifika,” as if you will be traveling while making money along the way. Celebrate, but remember, you have to travel back to your workplace.

Yes, it is Christmas, let us celebrate. Let us rejoice. Share with those who do not have the privilege that you might be having but above all, January is coming and you need to be wise.
