Dear Entrepreneur, Some Functions in Your Business are not to be delegated

There is a saying that ‘if you want something done perfectly, do it yourself’. It is this saying that should guide you as an entrepreneur on what to delegate in your business to ensure the vision you have for your business is not compounded.

Below are four functions that when delegated could bring down your business or change its course.

Strategy

The strategy in which you want your business run is only perfectly understood by YOU. It should be your sole responsibility to determine the direction your business takes at all times.

Advice is always welcome but the final decision should always lie with you to avoid having your vision compounded if not lost. Your business strategy should always reflect your personality and identify with you

Fundraising

There is a saying that money made a man mad! Money is crucial in every aspect of life, especially in business. As an entrepreneur, it is upon you to decide where finances for business come from.

Your employees, friends, fellow entrepreneurs, and family can advise but the decision should always lie with you. Deciding the price of your services or products should also be determined by you. Money is closely tied to any business and is always a part of the reason why businesses are started; manage it carefully to avoid a downfall.

Recruitment

The type of culture you wish to cultivate in your business will be determined by the type of people you keep around you as employees.

A negative culture will easily thrive if you lose touch with the people working in your business. Moonlighting will thrive and your business will stale as the vision gets lost in the money-making.

Cultivating a culture in your organization will only be possible if you oversee the recruitment of your staff. Have set qualifications depending on the job requirements and ensure to be available for first impressions during the interviews.

Marketing Goals

Marketing goals are closely tied to the company’s strategy and are hence easily spelled out to the employees by the person with that carries the company’s vision.

As an entrepreneur, decide which goals your business pursues at specific time and season.

To realize your company’s vision, work for hand in hand with your employees, choosing wisely what can be delegated and what should not. Once you choose to delegate, learn to show trust to your employees to avoid micromanaging.
