We Should Cheer Up Our National Team Harambee Stars

Harambee Stars’ 2-0 loss to Algeria on Sunday didn’t come as a surprise, but we should not make fun of them.

The stars were really playing at their best, they just lost to one of the best-ranked teams in Africa. That should not be termed as dishonour.

In order to qualify and reach the tournament, they had to go through some renowned football giants too, you won’t snap twice when Ghana is mentioned among the best.

As their first match, that was not a knock out stage, they still have all the time in this world to improve and get out of the tournament with group stages.

The head coach even said that the next match against neighbours, Tanzania should be played as if we are playing in the finals. We cannot underestimate or neighbours but we can give our team enough support and encourage them instead of demeaning their actual ability.

“It will be a final for us against Tanzania. It will be an opportunity for us to win a match in the championship for the first time when there is something at stake,” the Frenchman said at Harambee Stars training base in New Cairo.

The team is apparently in one of the toughest groups, with names like Senegal attesting to the aforementioned statement. A win against Tanzania and a draw with the best African ranked team in the world will even increase our chances of advancing to the group stages.

The players have one more training session to make a difference and they can indeed make it with some serious support from the fans.

The team is representing us as a nation. That means the results will be for all of us.

Let’s support Harambee Stars!
