In Memory of a Selfless Leader- CS Amina Mourns Kibra MP Ken Okoth

“It is with a heavy heart that I have learned of the passing of a dear, respected friend and MP for Kibra Hon. Ken Okoth, ” the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Amina Mohamed has penned down her emotional message of condolence following the death of Hon Okoth.

Hon. Okoth died on 26th July 2019 at the Nairobi hospital where he was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a failure of his body organs.

Okoth who has been battling colorectal cancer, died while still in office serving in his capacity as an MP for Kibra.
Okoth had been rushed to Nairobi Hospital after he was found unresponsive in bed and was admitted in the ICU on Thursday, 25th July, night.

Okoth had just returned to the Country a fortnight ago and had made his first official public appearance a fortnight ago after being in France for five months where he was receiving treatment.

“When I visited him in Paris in May this year, I was struck by his positivity, genuine care for his constituents, generosity, good humor and grace even in the state of pain,” Amina said in a press statement adding that Okoth was a man of principles.

“His leadership and foremost regard for his constituents and the well-being of our country will guide all who come after him to do good,” Amina noted.

Okoth has died at the age of41 at which he was serving his second term as the MP Kibra and had left behind a wife and children.

“May the Almighty God accept and rest his spirit and may his family find comfort and peace during this sad moment” Hon. Amina concludes.
