The number of Netflix paying subscribers is quickly increasing and could be fast approaching 150 million paying subscribers.
According to the streaming video company’s latest earnings report, by the year 2018 Netflix had 148.4 million paying subscribers worldwide up from 117.5 million subscribers in 2017.
The increase in the number of Netflix users was a record for the video streaming provider since it had surpassed the number of new subscribers they had envisioned.
The growth, of 8.84 million new subscriptions, against the 7.31 million the world’s leading entertainment service provider had hoped for was said to have been 26 percent.
The company had 1.53 million new subscribers in the US where it enjoys a wide viewership and 7.31 million subscribers internationally.

According to a study done by Emarketer, 765 million people around the world use over the top video services and 44 percent use Netflix.
The study shows Netflix subscriber base in ten countries where Netflix usage is most popular.
In the US, Netflix was leading in popularity, with a 64.5 percent viewership as Norway, with a population of 5.23 million came second with a subscriber base of 62.4 percent of the total population.
Third on the list was Canada with a 56.3 percent Netflix penetration. Denmark, with a total population of 5.73 million has 54.9percent subscribing to Netflix.
Other countries were Sweden (50.2 percent), Netherlands (43.6 percent), Australia (42.7 percent), Finland (39.7 percent), Germany (35.5 percent) and lastly the United Kingdom with 33.8 percent of 65.64 million population using Netflix.
