Safaricom Appoints Michael Joseph as Interim CEO Following Bob Collymore’s Demise

Michael Joseph, who was Safaricom’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) before Bob Collymore has returned to the office today as the Interim CEO.

Michael has been chosen by the board to take over at the helm of the Company mostly because of his previous experience following the death of Collymore which occurred on 1st July 2019.

Michael who also happens to be a board member at the Safaricom was chosen at a special board meeting of the Directors on 1st July 2019.

Mr. Joseph will hold this position until the Board communicates in due course, on a permanent appointment.

Mr. Joseph is also the current Chairman of the Board of Kenya Airways.

Safaricom Board has stated that it is confident that during this transition, Mr. Joseph will provide the necessary guidance and leadership the Company and its employees require.
