WPP-ScanGroup To Host Global Stream Unconference in Nairobi

WPP-ScanGroup has today announced the inaugural Kenyan edition of WPP STREAM. STREAM is the official WPP (un)conference for (un)conventional thinkers and has the world over managed to bring together hundreds of brands in this creativity and technology space.
The inaugural Kenyan edition is scheduled to take place in Nairobi on 27th of September. This may be the only time in Kenya when over 100 leaders and brand creators from competing brands, will join other leaders from across the East-Africa region; to engage in this exclusive invitation-only event that combines marketing, technology, and media.
Unlike conventional media conferences filled with keynote speeches and presentations; STREAM is described as an unconference due to its unique format where the program/agenda of the day is determined and run by the attendees. The event is set to have 16 discussions that will be led by 16 attendees of the event, with topics ranging from IoT (Internet of Things) and showcasing It’s tangible success in Kenyan businesses, to social e-commerce, to the issue of the influencer delusion and its impact on marketing, all the way to softer topics around personal styling and grooming.
Attendees will get a chance to choose which discussion to attend, all of which have been designed to allow the delegates to share expertise, and test new, or provocative ideas in an intimate setting.
Commenting on the event, WPP-ScanGroup Chief Executive Officer, Bharat Thakrar said they hope to acquire a new network of friends and allies, and most importantly, new ideas on creativity, business, and life. “The aim is to be as provocative as possible, and to arm our clients and partners with the very best access and insights to inform the development of all our businesses across the region,” said Mr. Thakrar.
Founded in 2007, STREAM has grown from an annual event to an international program with events previously held in India, Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa and regional events in Europe and the USA. Some of our previous STREAM guests in other markets include: Anderson Cooper, Sheryl Sandberg, Ana Ivanovic, Matthew Weiner, Jack Dorsey, Daniel Ek, Lachlan Murdoch, Marissa Meyer, Shekhar Kapur, Jeff Weiner, alongside leaders from AT&T, Apple, Colgate, E&Y, GSK, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Motorola, Nestle, Nike, Paramount, PepsiCo, Revlon, Samsung, Unilever, and Under Armour as well as VCs, founders, artists, filmmakers, academics, economists, and engineers among others.
Previous STREAM events have been described as a great place to network with partners and learn more about the latest issues facing the digital media world and continue to bring together the best, interactive, curious and most insightful minds of the industry. The event is also a great learning experience and will be sure to live up to its reputation of pushing the boundaries of engagement.
