Chief Inspector Monica Wambui Githaiga who was heading investigations into the Dusit D2 Complex terror attack that took place on 15th January 2019 killing 21 people, is dead.
Inspector Monica Wambui Githaiga died under mysterious conditions just a few minutes after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from her trip to Japan.
Inspector Monica had connected her Japan trip through Dubai and Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight only to arrive at JKIA and die following a series of symptoms.
It is reported that Inspector Monica had complained of feeling unwell while in Dubai, where she was connecting her flight from Japan to Kenya, and was attended to before being released to fly to Nairobi.
On her arrival at the JKIA, Inspector Monica is said to have collapsed and was confirmed dead by the Airport Clinic.
“She started complaining of dizziness and chest pains, she then started vomiting and was attended at Port Health Clinic, but unfortunately she passed on,” part of the report read.
An autopsy is set to be carried out to establish what could have killed Inspector Monica considering the nature of her job.
Inspector Monica had already established that 9 million shillings had been sent from South Africa and withdrawn from an M-PESA through the Diamond Trust Bank in Eastleigh.
Chief Inspector Monica Githaiga had been in Japan for a short course before the incident at JKIA.
The body of Inspector Monica Wambui Githaiga is currently at the Chiromo Mortuary, Nairobi as concerns arise on whether she could have been murdered and if it is the case whether the Dusit D2 case she handled could have been the reason for her death.
