This weekend Nairobi will be hosting a number of concerts literally “parte after parte” for Nairobians.
This Saturday, Nairobi will be Jamaican hit reggae/ riddim artist Chris martin will be performing at the Impala Grounds. Chris Martin arrived in the country on Wednesday, 4th December.
There is also Jameson live at the Uhuru Gardens this Saturday where international rapper T.I will be the main act despite the bad weather Nairobi population popularly known as Netizens are excited to go.
Off late Kenya has become a hub of events just December alone we have Jamaican-American music trio major Lazor coming on the 14th, award-winning Nigerian artist Burna boy is also making an appearance in Mombasa on the 26th of December
But compared to other African nations Kenyans are being reaped off at concerts in 2017 and 2018 Nigerian artists Tekno Miles and Mr. Eazi performed in Kenya for Tekno miles prices in Kenya shillings (Kshs) were
Early Bird Ticket- 3,000 shillings
Gate – 4,000 shillings
VIP Ticket (Advance) – 8,000 shillings
VIP ticket (Gate) – 10,000 shillings
While for Mr. Eazi who performed the following year, there were 10 categories of prices that changed. The cheapest ticket is trading at Ksh 1800 was over 55% discount while on D -Day you had to cough up Ksh 4000 for the same.

Tickets were:
Early Bird Ticket- 25,000 UShs which is 713 shillings
Gate-35,000 UShs which is about 999 shillings
VIP early ticket -75000 UShs which is about 2,100 shillings
Gate- 100,000 UShs which is around 2,900 shillings
This weekend International award-winning artist Cardi B will be performing in Nigeria
The ticket prices are
Regular – N5, 000 ($13.85) which is 1385 kshs
VIP – N30, 000 ($83) which is 8300ksh
Golden Circle (close to the stage, with beverages and refreshments) – N100, 000 ($277) which is 27,700.
While international artists who come to Kenya make citizens dig dip into their pockets with the cheapest ticket going for between 2,500 to 3,500ksh.
Seems like the Kenyan social scene is very popular with events almost every month such as Blankets and wines , Koroga and the likes This leaves me wondering what the difference with Kenyan events is or are we just being scammed? And are we just ok with it?
