Sarah Wairimu Sues DCI For 500 Million Shillings

The widow of  Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen Sarah Wairimu wants the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti and Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to pay 500 million shillings in damages for the illegal seizure and detention of her Kitisuru matrimonial home.

In court papers, Sarah Wairimu wants the High Court to summon Kinoti to personally appear in court to render a full account of the property.

This will include providing a full inventory of the items and the steps taken by his office to preserve the condition and value of the estate of her deceased husband held by him from September 10, 2019, and when his office will surrender possession of the property to her.

The application comes after the office of DCI took over Cohen’s property, terming it is a scene of the crime.

Through lawyer Samora Owino, Sarah Wairimu also wants the registrar of birth and deaths ordered to issue a death certificate.

The application was heard by Justice Lydia Achode of Milimani High Court’s ongoing investigations into his death.

Sarah Wairimu is currently on trial for murder after in September 2019 detectives from the DCI discovered Cohen’s body in a septic tank at his Kitisuru home close to two months after the Dutch billionaire went missing. She was released on a 2 million bail and on condition she should not set foot on the Kitisuru property.

Last month, Wairimu made another application seeking to have her house in Kitisuru back. Through lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu told the court that she could not understand why the prosecution wants to keep her house, which is not part of the evidence.

Murgor added that Wairimu also needs clothes, shoes and a car parked outside the house that has been secured off as a crime scene.

This all comes after it was alleged that in his will, Cohen left his Sh400 million Kitisuru villa alongside other property to his sister, Gabriele Cohen.
