As I sit to write this piece, the words of King Kaka are here with me, cutting through my ears, with the crescendo at its peak, Wajinga Nyinyi. That song will live generations and will not be fading away soon.
As I have always said, and as many others who share similar sentiments have said, Kenya and Kenyans suffer from acute amnesia that is worse than that of a warthog. We pride ourselves as a nation with the shortest memory ever.
For now, the song is Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), with almost everyone dancing to the tune of the usual angry, hungry and vicious politicians. Millions of us have now been turned into zombies, singing hosanna to BBI.
The chorus to this BBI song is clear, “BBI is the answer to all our problems. Behold, a savior has come, his name is BBI and Kenya will be new again. Come all and let us embrace the savior” As usual we are singing the song, dancing to its tune. You cannot embrace a cactus. I choose to say NO.
For those Kenyans who were born yesterday, or for those with irreversible amnesia, while campaigning for the current new constitution, the politicians said the New Constitution was the future of Kenya. That it was the only document that was set to take Kenya to the next level.
We voted for the new constitution en masse. We voted without reading because apparently, some people had read it for us. Little did we know that the document was creating small gods set to loot this country to the core. Little did we know that the document carried some positions in the name of devolution just to loot us to the last coin.
They are already tired of the “New Constitution”. To them, it is old. It needs amendment and the only way is the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). “BBI is the answer to all our problems,” they say. They are calling it a tsunami. Indeed, it is a tsunami that will sweep all of us, especially our pockets.
In Kenya, the forest has always changed but the monkeys have always remained the same. Somehow, the same old monkeys manage to convince us that they are newborns with fresh ideas to take the country to another level.
Dear Kenyans, BBI is a fraud. BBI is a dinner table for the angry, hungry and vicious hyenas with Kenyans being on the menu. You are singing and dancing your way to your slaughter. BBI is not about us. It is about them. Wake up!

Let me tell you something; the moment you see hyenas who were fighting over sheep, coming together and issuing a statement saying that they have agreed to work together for the good of the sheep, the sheep will be fooling to celebrate. A time to mourn.
Answer me dear Kenyans. Answer my equally ignorant questions:
How is BBI going to create jobs for our youths? The unemployment rate now stands at 43.5 percent. The number is still growing. How is that document going to create jobs? How?
How is BBI going to equip our ailing hospitals with medicine? Our mothers are dying while giving birth, 35,000 of us are dying annually due to cancer, thousands are dying of malaria in Baringo, how is BBI going to fix that?
How is BBI going to eliminate poverty in our country? Over 20 million people are living on under a dollar per day. Over 8 million people cannot put a single meal on the day in a day. How is BBI going to solve that?
How is BBI going to eliminate corruption in Kenya? The country is losing 1 trillion shillings annually to corruption. In reality, a third of our budget is going to less than 0.01 percent of the population. How is the ambitious BBI going to solve that?
How is BBI going to better our education system? How is BBI going to ensure that there is equal allocation of resources? How is BBI going to make Kenya better? How?
Dear Kenyans, let us stop being fools for once and ask the questions. BBI is not about you. It is about them. It is about them having a future politically. Truth be told, once the BBI is passed, the only thing they will recommend, in fact, immediately, is that of them having positions.
They are now talking of having regional governments, a powerful Prime Minister with two deputies among other positions. Pass the damn BBI and they will implement that overnight. Other recommendations ni kama kunyamba kwa punda.
