The government will withdraw security detail for all VIPs who are involved in criminal activities according to a statement released by the National Police Service.

The notice by the National Police Service comes hours after the security detail attached to Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria, who is facing assault charges in a court of law.

“To avoid compromising and demeaning the very essence of which the police are mandated, the NPS shall not provide security detail to VIPs who are involved in crime until they are cleared by the courts,” read part of the statement.

The announcement also comes at a time where Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is facing attempted murder charges after shooting a DJ in the neck at B Club in Kilimani, Nairobi.
