James Njoro has finally been sworn in as the third Governor for Kiambu County after the impeachment of the second governor Ferdinand Waititu Baba Yao.
Nyoro was to be sworn in on Thursday (January 30, 2020) but the exercise was postponed on what was described as a “laguna in the law on what was supposed to be done.”
Different schools of law opined that Nyoro was to be sworn in 10 days after the impeachment of the Waititu but another school of the law said that law only applied to Governors who are elected.
Ferdinand Waititu Baba Yao was impeached by the Senate on Wednesday (January 29, 2020) over gross misconduct and violation of the constitution as governor for Kiambu.
Baba Yao has since moved to court over what he termed as an injustice meted out on him by both the County Assembly of Kiambu and the Senate.
