Jamhuri’s Form One Parents Stranded As School Make New Demands On Reporting Date

It is the joy of every parent to see their child admitted to a good school and with the current rush to have form one’s report to the school, a number of schools have taken the opportunity to rip off parents such as Jamhuri High School in Ngara.
Jamhuri form one parents reported today, 15th January 2020, at the institution armed with the normal metal box and a myriad of items required of them by the school through a list they were asked to download.
Jamhuri High School management, an extra county school located in Nairobi’s Ngara, a few meters from the CBD, shocked parents after handing them a whole new list of shopping for books.
The visibly angry, confused and stranded parents could not hide their disappointment which crowded their initial joy of their sons having been admitted to the school.
As if to add salt to injury, the school also had on sale Dictionaries, Kamusi and Mathematical tables that they stated as recommended for every parent to buy within the facility after having written the same for the parents to buy before reporting.
Armed with unwanted Dictionary, Kamusi, and Mathematical Tables, the Jamhuri form one parents were asked to buy the ‘recommended ’ones sold at the institution and take home the new ‘unwanted ’ones.
The feeling of loss, disappointment, and helplessness was written all over the faces of the Jamhuri high school form one parents as a majority of them had clearly struggled to afford the already indicated items and fees.
The Jamhuri school management was selling the Kamusi at 1000 shillings and a 4-figure table at 600 shillings, good profits when one takes into consideration the number of students that were to be admitted.
The unfortunate turn of events by Jamhuri high school comes at a time when the Education Cabinet Secretary has cautioned schools from exploiting parents through selling materials in or outside the facility.
