Kenya has reported the first-ever case of Coronavirus after an individual traveling from China to Kenya exhibited symptoms of the virus during his flight to Kenya through the Kenya Airways.
The patient, a student from China, is now admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was quarantined during the flight from China to Kenya to avoid infecting other passengers and crew in the Kenya Airways plane.
Kenyatta National Hospital’s Communication Manager Hezekiel Gikambi confirmed that the patient suspected to be carrying the deadly Coronavirus has been isolated.
“We are not denying ..but the ministry will issue a statement later in the day. We have the suspected case and we are continuing with tests,” Gikambi of Kenyatta National Hospital has said.
The patient who becomes the first case of coronavirus suspected in Kenya had been cleared before boarding the Kenya Airways plane to Kenya but shortly began exhibiting symptoms similar to those of coronavirus.
The patient has been quarantined at the Kenyatta National Hospital awaiting further assessment upon the arrival of the Kenya Airways plane at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from Guangzhou on the morning of the 28th of January 2020.
Other countries where the coronavirus has been confirmed are Japan where 4 cases have been confirmed, Republic of Korea 4 cases, Viet Nam 2 cases, Singapore 4 cases, Australia 4 cases, Malaysia 4, Thailand 5 and the United States of America where 5 cases have been confirmed.

Kenya has stepped up surveillance for coronavirus at all its ports of entry and all passengers from China, where the Coronavirus outbreak is, will have to go through a thorough screening to limit cases of new infections into Kenya.
The Ministry of Health is yet to make an address regarding the newly suspected case.
