We Will Not Punish Kenya For Being A US Ally – Iran

Iran has said that it will not involve Kenya in its woes with the United States of America (USA). Currently, there is a simmering war between Tehran and Washington after the assassination of Qassem Soleimani by the United States through a drone attack.

According to a statement by the Iranian embassy in Nairobi, Iran will continue having a close economic relationship with Kenya despite Kenya being a close ally of the United States.

“We will maintain an even deeper and closer friendship with Kenya,” said the embassy in a statement.

Iran imports most of its tea from Kenya and there were concerns among tea farmers that the escalating war will place Kenya on the crossfire, leading to Iran suspending trade relations with Kenya. Kenya is also considering exporting fish to Iran.

Following the killing of Soleimani, Iran vowed to retaliate by hitting key American sites around the world. On Tuesday, Iran forces launched dozens of missiles in Iraq, hitting military bases occupied by American forces.

On Wednesday night, Iran launched other missiles to Baghdad, Iraq, hitting the American embassy. The embassy had been attacked last week by pro-Iran protesters who wanted the United States out of Iraq.
