The price of a 90 kg bag of maize in Nairobi is retailing at 3,510 shillings, meaning that a kilogram is retailing at roughly 39 shillings.
On the other hand, a 90 Kg bag of Beans Mwitemania is retailing at 7,740 shillings and, therefore, a kilogram is going for around 86 shillings.
Another variety, Beans Rosecoco is being sold at 9,090 shillings meaning that a kilogram is selling at around 101 shillings.
It will cost you 125 shillings to make a 2 kg pot of githeri from maize (1 kg) and beans Mwitemania (1 kg) in Nairobi.
To make a 2 kg pot of githeri from maize (1 kg) and beans rosecoco (1 kg) in Nairobi, it will cost you 140 shillings.
The retail price of black beans, commonly known as Njahi in Nairobi is 13,320 shillings per 90 Kgs, a price that’s considerably high compared to other bean types.
Our analysis shows that Mombasa is the cheapest town to make a 2 kg pot of githeri from maize (1 kg) and beans Mwitemania (1 kg), at only 101 shillings.
