The Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai gazetted 1,151 police stations in a bid to ensure service delivery and tighter security across the country.
The newly gazetted 1,151 police stations are expected to help in the fight against crime, ease in congestion and generally help in maintaining law and order.
Nakuru got 52 as Kiambu and Bungoma county got most of the new gazetted police stations leading with a whole 46 new followed closely by Kakamega County which got 45 newly gazetted police stations.
Below is a list of the 47 Counties and the number of the new gazetted police stations each got starting with those that got the most to those that got the least.

Though it is not clear which criteria were used in the gazetting of new police stations, it is obvious from the numbers the following informed the decision of IG Mutyambai.
Population
A County’s population in most cases determines the crime rate and the more the people then it is likely that the higher the crime rate.
Kiambu, Bungoma and Nakuru County are known for a highly growing population hence the need for more police stations.
Area Covered By A County
An increase in the number of police stations in large areas is reasonable as it reduces the amount of distance one has to walk before getting to a police station which explains the case of Counties such as Laikipia County getting 39 police stations.
Previously Short Staffed Counties
Counties that previously had a smaller number of police stations are only best if the number is increased so as to streamline security services to the public.
Nairobi being a capital city and highly populated, for that matter, is bound to be favored with an increase of police stations as the crime rate in the city is quite high.
Whatever the number of police stations increased, security is paramount and to ensure this, it is important to have a cordial relationship with the security officials.
