When Kahawa Wendani Member of County Assembly (MCA) Cyrus Omondi, fondly known as Cyro, bid his mother and wife goodbye last week, the ladies did not know that it would be the last they were seeing of their loved one.

“Cyrus left Nairobi on Thursday last week. On Friday, he called to inform me that he had arrived safely,” the late Kahawa Wendani’s wife Jackline Mwongeli said.
“He was jovial and asked how the children were fairing. I told him we were ok,” Jackline, Kahawa Wendani MCA’s wife said adding that it was to be their last communication from the husband who said he had arrived safely in India on Friday
“He told me he would return to Nairobi on Sunday,” an outrightly shaken Jackline said of her husband the Kahawa Wendani MCA who was found dead in hotel room in India.
“My husband has never complained of threats to his life, neither did he have health problems. What we want is the truth on how he died,” Jackline, the wife to the late Kahawa Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi said.

Millicent Achieng Odhiambo said in an interview that her son, the now late Kahawa Wendani MCA was jovial and in high spirits when she had visited him in his office last week and he told her of the trip and that he would return on Sunday.
“He was jovial and in high spirits as usual. We joked … that was the last conversation I had with him,” the Kahawa Wendani MCA’s mother said.
“Omondi never showed signs of bad health, I do not believe those reports saying that he suffered a heart attack,” the Kahawa Wendani Mca’s mother said in obvious pain.
“What I am hearing – that my son died of a heart attack in a hotel room is strange. Cyrus never had any health problem. We are optimistic that the post-mortem will tell the truth,” she noted adding that he had also not shared any fears over threats on his life.
The body of the Kahawa Wendani MCA found in a hotel room in Mumbai, India where he had travelled with other Kenyan MCAs for official duty.
