There are six members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) and one foreigner who have been put in isolation after they jetted into the country on two different occasions.

The six MCAs from Murang’a County were quarantined on arrival from Saudi Arabian trip where they had gone for an official duty.

According to Murang’a county assembly speaker Nduati Kariuki, the MCAs were ordered to keep off the county assembly buildings for 14 days to prevent spread of the coronavirus.

The foreigner, on the other hand, was put under isolation after she revealed that she was in contact with the Coronavirus patient who landed into the country from the US via London.

The foreigner who is a woman of European origin said she was on board the plane that had the woman who first tested positive for the coronavirus in Kenya and she had interacted with her during the flight. She was put under quarantine at Nanyuki Cottage Hospital.

“The Caucasian woman flew in and headed to Nanyuki Cottage Hospital to visit a terminally ill relative,” said Laikipia County Health executive Lenai Kamario.

Dr. Kamario stated that even though the woman was put under quarantine after the other patient she interacted with tested positive, she has not shown any signs of the covid-19.

Meanwhile, Parliament was forced to kick out four legislators who allegedly travelled back from the country and had not self-quarantined.

According to the Senate Majority leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, the four legislators and some staff members of the Parliamentary Service Commission were on board the plane that had the fourth Coronavirus patient who arrived in Kenya on March 9, 2020.

The four MPs, Naomi Shaban (Taita Taveta), Adan Keynan (Eldas) and Senators George Khaniri (Vihiga) and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) travelled with a covid-19 patient from London but had not gone into self-quarantine.

Due to coronavirus fears, the parliament sessions have been adjourned to April 4, 2020.
