Coronavirus Death Toll In Italy Hits 6,820, Global Infections At 422,829

Italy registered 743 new deaths in under 24 hours on Tuesday as a result of Coronavirus, taking the death toll to 6,820 and infections at 69,176.

Currently, 3,393 patients in Italy are said to be in “critical condition” (about 6 percent of infections), 50,637 are said to be in mild conditions with efforts underway to help them recover. 8,326 are said to have recovered.

In Spain, the number of deaths as a result of Coronavirus rose by 514 in one day, taking the death toll to 2,696. In 24 hours, a total of 6,600 new Coronavirus infections were registered to take the total number to 39,673.

In India, the government has placed a population of 1.3 billion people under a total mandatory lockdown for the next 21 days to help stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Globally, the number of infections stands at 422,829 with experts saying it might move past 500,000-mark by the end of the week. The number of deaths stands at 18,907.

The number of those who have recovered from Coronavirus globally stands at 109,102. Experts, through the World Health Organisation (WHO), are telling the world to prepare for the worst that is yet to come.

In Africa, the number of infections has been rising steadily. In South Africa, the number is now above 500 from just 402 on Monday and 240 on Saturday. African nations are worried about what is happening in Italy replicating some of them.

In Kenya, the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus on Tuesday was at 25, a sharp increase from 16 just a day before. There are fears that the numbers might be higher only that the government has not tested as many people as it is required.

Some Kenyans are also still ignorant. Some from abroad refusing to self-quarantine, moving around like the Deputy Governor for Kilifi County, going to clubs, weddings and funerals putting thousands at risk.

The government of Kenya is set to announce “additional measures” on Wednesday with a possible total lockdown looming.
