Here Are The 14 Counties At Risk Of The Coronavirus

In the case of a Coronavirus outbreak, about 14 counties would be the first ones to report cases of the deadly infection.

According to the Health Ministry, some of the counties named to be at risk of the Coronavirus are either Kenya’s entry points or are situated nearer to the country’s entry points.

Counties with entry points that include the ports and the borders are therefore likely to be the first ones to report cases of Coronavirus in case there is an outbreak.

In Kenya, counties with the major ports are found in the major cities and towns while the other entry points are at the borders.

Nairobi has been named as the county with the highest risk of coronavirus due to its major airport Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) that receives a couple of international flights.

Mombasa is likely to be at risk due to the Indian Ocean, the main entry point for cargo shipped from other countries. Landlocked countries like Uganda and Rwanda also depend on the Mombasa put for shipment of goods.

Busy border entry points are like Busia, Garissa, Wajir, and Migori.

Busia, for example, is situated on the South-Western part of Kenya and borders with Uganda. Busia is at risk in case there is an outbreak of Coronavirus in Uganda, it is the first county on the border.

Wajir and Garissa are located in the Northeastern part of Kenya and the border with Ethiopia and Somalia respectively.

The Ministry of Health has assured Kenyans that there is no need for an alarm as there is still no reported case.
