The deadly Coronavirus is in Africa and so far, 9 countries have reported positive cases. The total number of confirmed cases in Africa now stands at 31.

Here are the countries:

Algeria 17

Senegal 4

Egypt 3

Morocco 2

Tunisia 1

Nigeria 1

Togo 1

South Africa 1

Cameroon 1

Almost 99 percent of the recorded cases in Africa involve foreigners from other countries who are not citizens of the countries they are visiting.

The infection rate among Africans is almost zero leading to medical practitioners in the Western World asking questions as to whether Africans are immune.

As the virus continues to sweep across the globe, most African countries say that they are set and ready to tackle the virus as soon as it lands.

Chinese doctors say autopsies performed on those who have died from Coronavirus shows that the disease “is like a combination of SARS and AIDS” that can cause “irreversible lung damage even if the patient recovers.”

Coronavirus has now killed more than 3,600 people and the number of infections has now gone past 100,000. There is a concern that the number of infections might be higher due to the incubation period of the virus.

“Today, the greatest risk of global catastrophe… It is likely to be a highly infectious virus, rather than a war, not missiles but microbes,” said Bill Gates.

Bill Gates says the virus is likely to kill at least 10 million people, especially if it hits Africa with the same magnitude it hit China. He says health facilities in Africa are likely to be overwhelmed leading to mass deaths that has never been witnessed before.
