Rugby Player Tony Onyango Collapses In Ngong’

Tony Onyango, the Kenya cup winner with KCB in the 2018/2019 season is dead. Tony Onyango who has left behind a young family will be remembered for his passion for the rugby game and love for his family.

Tony Onyango collapsed and died in his house after previously complaining of experiencing palpitations during a gym session.

Onyango who plays for KCB was in his Ngong home when he died throwing the Kenya Cup defending Champions KCB and the whole rugby fraternity into mourning.

Tony Onyango’s body has since been transferred to Umash Funeral home from where a Post-mortem is expected to be conducted on him, to determine the cause of his death.

“He trained with us on Monday, he had a gym session but later revealed he was having palpitations. He was advised by the physio not to have a field session,” Dennis Mwanja, the KCB assistant coach said.

“The physio also requested that he should pass by the hospital before heading home. Later in the evening, while we were having a meeting and the Team Manager received a call from him stating he was feeling better,” Mwanja added.

“We were later shocked to receive the information that he collapsed at his home,” the coach added saying the body was now waiting at Umash funeral home for the autopsy to be conducted to help them understand what had gone wrong.

Palpitation is a feeling of the heart racing, pounding, fluttering or skipping a beat, which can mostly be very uncomfortable but is rarely considered a sign of heart disease.

The KCB Rugby Club, which he joined in November 2018, is expected to release a detailed statement on Tony Onyango’s death after receiving an official medical report of the autopsy.

Onyango, who did not feature in a majority of the games this season, has left behind a wife and a young son. May the Soul of Tony Onyango rest in peace.
