A woman placed at forceful quarantine at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute (KITI) in Nakuru and identified as Elizabeth Holloway has committed suicide.

The Nakuru Health CEC Gichuki Kariuki has confirmed the sad news at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute Nakuru.

The woman in her 20’s hung herself in the Institute where she had been quarantined after she had traveled to Kenya from South Africa.

The woman was caught in Mai Mahiu for evading self-quarantine and taken to KITI institute where she was quarantined by force.

The young lady was quarantined yesterday, 26th March 2020 at KITI together with two other men and women only for her body to be found hanging today.

It is reported that the health workers doing the temperature checks tried to access the room the woman was in but the door was locked and the music was blaring from inside.

“Yesterday, she complained that the conditions are deplorable and had requested to be taken to a hotel for quarantine as she could afford but the health officials were hesitant”, said one of the people she was quarantined with.

When the health workers broke into the room, they found that the woman had hung herself using cloth just above the double-decker bed.
