COVID-19 Update: Nairobi, Mombasa Account For 90%, 11 More Positive

Kenya has a total of 374 COVID-19 Cases after eleven more individuals have tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The update given today, 28th April 2020, shows that local transmission remains very high in Nairobi and Mombasa County.

Mombasa currently has a total of 97 confirmed COVID-19 cases while Nairobi has 241 which is the highest number of cases in a county in Kenya.

The Ministry of Health has also noted that Kenya has registered an increase in the number of recoveries after ten more COVID-19 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours.

The eleven that have tested positive for COVID-19 are out of 589 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The eleven that have tested positive for COVID-19 according to the Ministry of Health are seven from Nairobi and four from Mombasa.

The seven from Nairobi are four people in Kawangware, one from Eastleigh in Mando estate and one from Kaloleni.

The Ministry of Health has also noted with alot of concern that local transmission rate is very high in Nairobi and Mombasa.

Nairobi and Mombasa is hence set to undergo more testing following the Spike in community transmission.

Kenyans ranging between age 30 and 59 years are the majority in the Covid-19 cases currently standing at 224 cases according to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health has also revealed that 323 of the total COVID-19 Cases, which are 374, range between 15 to 59 years of age.

Kenya’s COVID-19 Cases continue to alarmingly rise in Nairobi and Mombasa in the last few days.w

Counties outside Nairobi and Mombasa are currently urged to adhere to the set measures by the Ministry of Health to avoid facing an increase in the cases.

The increase of COVID-19 Cases in Kenya comes at a time when the government has decided to reopen restaurants.

The restaurants are to open upon achieving a strict set of regulations that aim at curbing the spread of COVID-19.
