Day 40 Of COVID-19 In Kenya: 15 Test Positive As Mombasa Is Hit Hard

Kenya has tested 545 samples for COVID-19 across Kenya in the last 24 hours and fifteen (15) of those have tested positive raising the total number to 296 according to Health CAS Doctor Mercy Mwangangi.

Fifteen (15) of those that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours are eleven Kenyans and four foreigners who all have no history of travel according to Doctor Mercy Mwangangi.

Mombasa has been hit hard according to today’s Coronavirus briefing by Doctor Mwangangi as seven ( 7) of the fifteen (15) cases announced come from Mombasa county.

Six out of the fifteen cases announced are from Nairobi while the other two cases are from Mandera county raising the number of COVID-19 cases in Mandera County to eight (8).

Seven of the fifteen (15) COVID-19 cases announced today, 21st April 2020, are male while the other eight (8) are females with six (6) being drawn from the quarantine centers in Kenya.

Nine of the fifteen people that have tested positive for COVID-19 have been drawn from different parts in Nairobi and Mombasa by the Ministry of Health surveillance team and their contacts are currently being traced.

The fifteen that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours range between nine years of age and seventy-five years (9-75 years of age).

According to CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi five (5), more people have been discharged after testing negative for COVID-19 twice hence are now considered fully recovered raising the number of recoveries in Kenya to 71.

730 Kenyans are currently being traced by the government after they came into contact with those that have tested positive for COVID-19 according to the Health CAS.

Kenya continues to have the highest number of COVID-19 in East Africa closely followed by Tanzania and then Uganda.

COVID-19 cases in the World have hit past 2.5 million cases and unfortunately, 170,000 of them have died with different countries enacting measures according to its situation.
