COVID-19 Cases Rise To 411 As 4 People Die Raising Fatalities To 21

Kenya has today, 1st May 2020, recorded another 15 (fifteen) COVID-19 cases raising the number of those that have tested positive to 411

Eleven of the fifteen new cases recorded in the last 24 hours are from Mombasa while a second case has been recorded in Wajir.

Eight of the fifteen new cases are female, while seven are male of those that have tested positive in the 1,434 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Kagwe has also revealed that the number of recoveries has risen to 150 after six more people were discharged in the last 24 hours.

Sadly, Kenya has lost four more people who have succumbed to the COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours.

The testing of a total of 1,434 samples tested in the last 24 hours marks a notable rise from the trend where less than a thousand tested samples had been reported.

In setting a good example CS Kagwe dumped his usual papers and read his speech using computer slides to encourage lesser use of hard copies to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

In a report shared with the Senate, Health CS Kagwe revealed that 6.5 million shillings have been set aside to procure stationery.

The Ministry of Health has already embarked on mass testing for COVID-19 in Kawangware and Mombasa which have reported high increase of confirmed cases with Kawangware currently reporting 13 cases which are highest in Nairobi and are closely followed by Eastleigh with 11 cases.

In Mombasa County, Mvita has been marked as a hot spot with 36 cases and mass testing has already begun.

Mombasa yesterday reported seven more COVID-19 cases while Nairobi reported three cases which means Mombasa cases are rising faster than in Nairobi despite Nairobi being more populous.

Already the printing of traveler, quarantine, and discharge forms has cost the country 9 million shillings while procuring and installing the call center for grievances, complaints management has cost the Kenyan government 11.8 million shillings.
