DIB Bank Kenya Limited (DIB) has made a food donation worth KES 500,000 to three religious organizations in Nairobi and Mombasa to be distributed among vulnerable members of the community as they observe the holy month of Ramadhan.

The donations made to the Jamia Mosque leadership in Nairobi and the Wakf Commissioners of Kenya in Mombasa are made up of packages of dry foods that include; sugar, rice, and wheat flour cooking oil, maize flour, tea leaves, and salt. This will feed up to 300 families during the holy month.

“At DIB the well-being of people is an important value we hold, and we aim to play our role in support of the community. We are delighted to partner with Jamia Mosque to offer our support towards reaching out to the vulnerable during this holy month of Ramadhan and we pledge to keep offering our support in the years to come,” said DIB Bank Kenya CEO, Peter Makau during the handover at Jamia Mosque in Nairobi.

This is the second year that DIB Bank Kenya Limited is partnering with the Muslim community to cushion the vulnerable as they fast.

“This is a particularly difficult Ramadhan as many families are vulnerable especially with the effects that COVID-19 has had on all of us. We are therefore thankful to DIB Bank for their kind gesture and we assure them that this donation will reach those it was intended for” said Sheikh Juma Amir, Deputy Imam and Director of Jamia Information Centre at the at Jamia Mosque.

As the world battles the COVID-19 Pandemic, DIB Bank has also been supporting its customers by helping them restructure their financing facilities with the bank.  The bank has also asked businesses that are struggling to approach them for better financial planning and restructuring of the facilities they have so that they can go through this period with a lesser burden.
