Have you still been going for your usual hair styling? Well, Please know there is a risk involved as your hairdresser cannot work on your head one or two meters away and in Missouri, in the US, two hairstylists have been reported to have potentially exposed 140 clients to COVID-19.

The two Missouri hairstylists worked for eight days in this month of May and despite having been symptomatic and hence the higher risk of having transmitted the virus, they still went on their business and as a result of that, the Missouri government is now working to trace all the more than 140 contacts.

One of the hairstylists who tested positive for COVID-19 is likely to have spread the virus to more than 56 clients at Great Clips salon according to the Springfield-Greene Health Department a day after another hairstylist at the same establishment tested positive and is believed to have infected 84 customers.

The second hairstylist not only infected customers but also infected seven more of their co-workers and are said to have ignored the symptoms they were exhibiting despite knowing they had been exposed to the virus ravaging the World.

The case of the two hairstylists in Missouri in the US is a lesson for the World to learn from to save lives from the deadly viral COVID-19 in the containment of the disease’s spread.

For countries that are reopening businesses, there is a dire need to be extra vigilant as the virus unlike floods, is not something whose end can be known and will be gradual.

The end of COVID-19 will only be achieved by an overhaul in our cultures and habits as the risk of spread seeks to be eradicated completely.

The spread of COVID-19 from the two Missouri hairstylists occurred despite them having worn face masks and is believed to have occurred in the second week of the month of May revealing a worrying trend of COVID-19 among people still on face masks.

“It is the hope of the department that because face coverings were worn throughout this exposure timeline, no additional cases will result,” the US Health Department said.

The staff at Great Clips Salon were however great at keeping records of the people they attended to according to Clay Goddard, the Director of the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

COVID-19 has killed more than 96,000 people in the United States with more than 1.6 million people have tested positive for the virus as recorded by Johns Hopkins.

Missouri, where the two hairstylists potentially spread the virus to 140 people has around 12,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and more than 650 deaths.

The essence of keeping records of the people that visit a business premise is becoming more critical by day as it is easing the contact tracing process.
