260 Positive For COVID-19 In 24 Hours As 600 Released To Home Care

Today marks 100 days since Kenya reported its first COVID-19 case and sadly the highest ever number of cases in 24 hours with 260 people testing positive in 24 hours.

The 260 COVID-19 cases according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe were out of 3,651 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The 260 COVID-19 cases have brought the total number of confirmed cases in Kenya to 4,738 with the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe noting that Kenyans were throwing caution to the wind.

“This virus does not have a political party, it will kill you if you get infected with the virus regardless of which gathering you attended,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

“Nobody is holding a gun to your head to attend gatherings so stop decrying and we urge our security forces to ensure the law cuts across all persons,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has added.

The Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has also noted that around 600 Kenyans had been released after the COVID-19 virus got suppressed for Home-based care.

According to the Ministry of Health Director-General Patrick AMOTH has revealed that 338 COVID-19 asymptomatic patients have been released from Kenyatta University Referral Hospital.

Another 212 COVID-19 asymptomatic patients have also been released for home-based care from the Coast General Hospital.

Out of the 260 COVID-19 cases announced in the last 24 hours, 254 are Kenyans while six are foreigners according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

COVID-19 male cases reported in the last 24 hours are 176 while females are 84 with all cases ranging between a 7-month old and a 90 year old.

Sadly, two more COVID-19 patients have succumbed to the virus bringing the total number of people that have died to 123.

Kenya has also had 21 COVID-19 patients discharged according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who thanked the Healthcare workers for their sacrifice in attending to patients.

Mombasa – 42

Kwale – 15

Kiambu – 14

Machakos-9

Kajiado -7

Migori – 3

Nakuru – 3

Busia – 3

Homabay – 2

Kilifi-1

Kisii – 1

Kisumu – 1

Kakamega – 1

Laikipia – 1
