Five people have died in a grisly road accident along the Kitui-Machakos road involving two 14-seater matatus and a lorry in the wee hours of today morning.
The Kitui-Machakos road accident that has left a dozen other people nursing severe wounds, occurred at the Kingaatuani area in the wee hours of 10th July 2020 morning.
The Machakos County Government Emergency Services Director David Mwongela has confirmed the fatal incident saying that the lorry collided head-on with a Matatu resulting in a deadly crash that has resulted in a huge number of casualties.
Three of the passengers who were in one of the matatu’s died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical attention at the Machakos Level 5 hospital.
Machakos Level 5 hospital has also admitted 13 others who suffered severe injuries in the early morning Machakos-Kitui road accident where they are receiving medical care.
The five who lost their lives in the accident have since been transferred to the Machakos Level 5 hospital Mortuary while the three vehicles were towed to Masii police station.
