Kenya Confirms 788 New Covid-19 Cases As 14 Patients Die

Kenya has recorded 788 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours after carrying out tests on 5,521 samples in the last 24 hours.

The new cases now bring the total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in Kenya to 19,913. They will most probably move past 20,000 on Friday.

A total of 100 patients have been discharged after they recovered. 8 were e on home-based care while 92 were from various hospitals across the country. Total recoveries are now at 8,121.

In the last 24 hours, 14 patients have died as a result of Covid-19 taking the total number of fatalities to 325. The number of deaths has started rising greatly causing panic among health officials.

Nairobi County still leads with the highest number of confirmed cases. In less than 24 hours, the county has recorded 487 new cases. The government through the Ministry of Health now says Nairobi cases are getting out of hand.

The counties of Kiambu, Nakuru and Kajiado have registered 86, 34, and 26 new cases while the counties of Machakos, Busia, Narok and Bomet have 21, 20, 14, and 9 cases respectively.

The Ministry is currently considering moving some of the patients from Nairobi to other counties that have space as city hospitals become overwhelmed.

Kenyans have been told to remain vigilant and observe all the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.
