The queen of Ohangla Maureen Achieng’ popularly known as Lady Maureen has died after battling with an illness and having to suffer the horror of being killed twice before she actually died.
Lady Maureen passed on at 3 am on Saturday, 11th of July 2020 in Uriri, Migori county where she was recuperating after being discharged from hospital last week, her cousin Bella Achieng confirmed.
Lady Maureen had been discharged last week from Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital as she had seemed out of danger according to Bella only for her to get home and worsen.
Barely a fortnight ago, Kenyans on Social Media had shocked the friends and family of Lady Maureen after they began sending messages of condolences despite her being alive something that tore her heart apart.
The messages of condolences were flowing in thick and fast only sad that Lady Maureen was reading them in her home in Migori lost on whether to be grateful or be hurt.
“RIP Lady Maureen. Another loss to the Ohangla fans. Reckless life +alcohol+unprotected sex+trusting politicians. Something is wrong with Ohanglians,” @ChizhodiNfc, another insensitive Kenyan wrote on twitter.
This is not the first that Kenyans online had killed the Ohangla Queen with messages of condolences as she continued to fight hypertension that was taking a toll on her health, which leaves one wondering did Kenyans kill Lady Maureen?
Sadly the news even made it to the media Nairobi News even taking the fake story to the headlines with the title “Ohangla Musician Lady Maureen is dead”.
Journalists began making calls to the elderly mother of Ohangla Queen to ascertain on the death claims and a shocked hurt mother refuted the claims.
It was however later clarified that it is one Maureen Nyar Awendo, a dancer of Fred Jakadongo who had passed away and not the Lady Maureen the Ohangla Queen that had died then.
It is important to be sure before rushing to write Rest in Peace to avoid traumatizing people and pushing them to their graves and because luo legends do not die, they rest we say REST IN POWER Lady Maureen.
