In less than 24 hours, Kenya has registered 24 Covid-19 deaths taking the total number of confirmed deaths to 364 as the pandemic continues to eat deep into the people.
The Ministry of Health says the country has started experiencing an increase in the number of deaths of people who do not have pre-existing conditions or know health complications.
At the same time, the country has registered 727 new Covid-19 cases after the testing of 6,371 samples. The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 21,363.
A total of 254 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after they recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 8,419.
The cases are spiking even as international flights in and out of the country resume. The Ministry of Health is worried that soon health facilities will become overwhelmed.
Kenyans have been accused of aiding the spread of the virus by failing to adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health like observing social distance.
President Uhuru Kenyatta promised that the government would impose more stricter measures should the cases rise spontaneously.
