President Uhuru Kenyatta has allowed hotels and restaurants to resume the sale of alcohol after lifting the ban that has been in place for close to 30 days.
The Head of State had suspended the sale of alcohol in hotels and restaurants to help cut down on the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
At the same time, the President has increased operation hours for hotels and restaurants from 7 pm to 8 pm starting July 27, 2020 (tomorrow). Uhuru called on restaurants to continue observing the Covid-19 protocols.
Bars and clubs will continue being closed for the next 30 days. Bars and clubs have been under closure for more than 3 months as the government tried to cut down on the transmission of Covid-19. Uhuru has ordered stakeholders to discuss the gradual resumption of bars and clubs.
For those who were hoping that the curfew will be lifted are in for a rude shock. The curfew has been extended for further 30 days. The Ministry of Sports and other stakeholders have also been directed to discuss the gradual resumption of sporting activities in Kenya.
