DStv customers are in for another fantastic experience after the MultiChoice Group announced the launch of the next-generation personal video recorder (PVR) decoder.
The new Explora Ultra is capable of delivering 4K content and Dolby Atmos audio and is integrated with Netflix as well as its own streaming platform, Showmax.
The new decoder has a built-in Wi-Fi; a completely redesigned interface, and a redesigned remote control giving the user an experience “like no other.”
The new decoder comes at a time MultiChoice is under pressure to deliver great content to their customers in the face of stiff competition from online content creators.
The new Explora Ultra will have a Netflix app integrated to allow DStv customers an option to sign up or sign in to their Netflix account. At the same time, DStv customers with a the new Explora Ultra will have an option to add their Netflix subscription to their monthly DStv bill.
“The addition of the Netflix app to a DStv Explora Ultra, connected to the Internet, opens the door to Netflix’s critically acclaimed local and international entertainment across a wide variety of genres,” said MultiChoice in a statement.
“Shifting consumer preferences and technological advances drive changes in the way video entertainment services are provided and consumed. This partnership leads with an expanded choice of content, ease, and convenience of subscription and payment with the DStv Explora Ultra as an enabler,” added the company.
MultiChoice says it is working towards bringing on board more streaming services on board in an effort to give their customers enough choices when it comes to content.
