Nyamira Governor John Obiero Nyangarama Is Dead
The Governor for Nyamira County Mr. John Nyangarama is dead. News reaching the newsrooms has confirmed after many days of speculations about his health.
John Nyangarama was battling Covid-19 at Nairobi Hospital. He has died at the age of 74 with the family calling on the media to refrain from making unverified statements about what he was ailing from.
Initially, the family disputed claims about his death that surfaced during the week. The Governor was in the ICU then. He becomes the first governor in Kenya to die of Covid-19.
With his death, the Deputy Governor of Nyambura will be sworn in to take charge of the county affairs as directed by the Constitution of Kenya.
Covid-19 seems to be making inroads among prominent people in Kenya after the Senator of Machakos succumbed to the same.
