European Union Accuses Magufuli Of Conning Them Covid-19 Billions

The European Union gave the government of Tanzania led by President John Pombe Magufuli about 27 million Euros for the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic which now they want Tanzania to account for cash or be forced to refund.

It is said that after receiving the billions, the government of Mr. Magufuli squandered the cash and declared Tanzania miraculously healed of Covid-19 through faith and the “blood of Jesus.” Tanzania has never given any status about the Covid-19 situation.

The Tanzanian government stopped all Covid-19 testing and shut down all Covid-19 centers saying the country was free of Covid-19. Tourists are allowed into the country requiring to present a Covid-19 certificate or observe Covid-19 protocols.

Visa Ban

The United States Government has announced a visa ban on Tanzanian elections who are said to have been complicit during last year’s general elections. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said the actions of the officials subverted the electoral process, continuing the downward trajectory of Tanzania’s democracy.

“Election observers and civil society noted widespread irregularities as well as human rights abuses and violations before, during, and after the election. Opposition candidates were routinely disqualified, harassed, and arrested. Significant and widespread voting irregularities, internet disruptions, intimidation of journalists, and violence by security forces made this election neither free nor fair,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
