Here Are Safety Tips While Driving At Night

Most road accidents in Kenya happen at night. In most cases, it is blamed on poor vision or misjudgment on the part of drivers. As indicated previously, safe driving lies squarely in the hands of the driver.

Here are some safety tips to help you while driving at night:

Leave early

Do not leave when it is already too dark. Do not leave your venue when you are too tired. Leave when you are still active and alert. Leaving early also means that you won’t rush to beat the traffic and not running into other drivers with the same goals as yours.

Clean your windscreen and mirrors both inside and outside

Bright lights at night can cause dirt on your windscreen or mirrors to create a dangerous glare of its own thereby
blocking your view. Make sure that your windscreen is clean at all times, especially at night.

Dim your dashboard lights

Bright interior lights may impair your vision and distract you from the road ahead. When the lights inside your car are dimmed, you are able to see the road more clearly than when the lights are bright.

Avoid looking onto the oncoming traffic

Looking or staring into bright lights could make your vision temporarily hazy. Most drivers have a habit of letting their lights full-blast when meeting other drivers. This has been one of the causes of accidents too.

Have anti-glare glasses

For motorists who wear glasses, it is highly recommendable to ask your doctor to prescribe anti-glare glasses. The anti-reflective coating to your eyeglasses can allow more light in and also cut down on glare.

Regulate the brightness of your headlights

It is rude and uncouth to have your headlights full-on while meeting other motorists. This hinders their vision and might lead to them causing accidents.
