Minet Kenya, the insurance provider mandated to provide cover for Kenyan teachers under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) paid up to 100 million shillings for Covid-19-related claims as of July 31, 2020, as compared to other players.
According to Minet Kenya, the claims spanned from the screening of the virus, with the firm paying for 7,000 tests, to hospitalization for about 100 Covid-19 patients. Minet Kenya is the only insurance so far that has offered to cover medical costs for Covid-19 patients.
“For those who succumbed to the virus and held group life policies with us, the claims are being honored as well. The trend in the increase in costs cautions us to monitor keenly with the expectation that the claims experience will be adverse this year,” Minet Kenya CEO Sammy Muthui said.
When looking for the best value in insurance, you need to look for more than just the cheapest insurance policies. While the price is a vital component, a valuable insurance policy should provide you with reliable coverage while minimizing your budget.
