Senator for Murang’a County Irungu Kang’ata now says that his life is in danger following a letter he wrote to President Uhuru Kenyatta telling him that his lovely Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was unpopular in Mount Kenya.
Mr. Kang’ata says he wrote the letter out of goodwill and respect for the President and was not meant to disrespect the Head of State, saying the people around him were lying to him over the popularity of BBI in Mount Kenya.
“People around the President are lying to him. What am saying is BBI can pass in other regions but might not when it comes to Mount Kenya,” said Mr. Kang’ata.
The senator now says that he has become a marked man and has been threatened with violence and death on the account of the letter he wrote to the President. He says he has been receiving death threats from unknown people ever since he wrote the letter.
“I have forwarded the text messages to the DCI to an officer known as Mwangi whois in charge of the investigations. I hope that the culprits will be brought to book,” said Mr. Kang’ata in an interview with a vernacular station.
According to Mr. Kang’ata, President Uhuru Kenyatta should jolt to reality because people on the ground know the truth but are scared to come out. He says the people in the region feel that the president has alienated them as compared to others.
Those in favor of BBI came out, guns blazing to hit at Kang’ata’s letter saying it was meant to spread propaganda about the otherwise good document meant to solve all problems facing Kenyans including those of yet to be born.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has also dismissed the contents of the letter saying that he was in charge of the country.
