Yoweri Museveni Shuts Down Social Media “Until Further Notice”

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda has ordered that all social media platforms be shut until further notice.

Starting tonight, the people of Uganda will not be able to send text messages, WhatsApp, tweet, or be on Facebook as the government plans to shut down the internet.

Uganda will be having a general election on Thursday, January 14, 2021, where strongman Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for 35 years will be running for another term.

The order from Museveni comes after giant tech Facebook deleted Facebook accounts of top government officials in Uganda for “propagating lies” concerning the upcoming elections.

Museveni, who says foreign powers are planning to rig his votes has vowed to “protect his votes” by all means and has ordered the army to ensure this happens.

The main opponent of Mr. Museveni is Mr. Bobi Wine whose campaign has been marred with live bullets, deaths, and blood from the army.

All campaigns by Bobi Wine have been stormed by heavily-armed military personnel who have been clobbering people, breaking their skulls and legs.

More than 100 people have died, most of them supporters of Bobi Wine during the campaign period. Museveni says Bobi Wine is still a kid who should sit down and watch him rule.

On Tuesday morning, while on a radio interview with Hot 96, a Kenyan radio station, the military stormed his house, arresting everyone they laid their eyes on.

According to Bobi Wine, more than 200 of his campaign team have been arrested and are being held in various jails across the country incommunicado.
