Former Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga has sued the controversial lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi popularly known as Grand Mullar for defamation through a series of tweets that claimed that Maraga helped a corrupt senior judge.
The lawyer has been claiming that David Maraga failed to act on a Judge who they shared on the bench who is alleged to have received over 200 million shillings as a bribe to overturn the outcome of an election case. The lawyer has never named the judge.
The SICKENING pretensions by X CJ @dkmaraga that he doesn’t know the SENIOR SUPREME COURT JUDGE who received a bribe of Kshs 220 m & is struggling to sell a farm in NYANDARUA for KSH 350 m is BREATHTAKING. Now he has filed a suit I will UNMASK Kenya BIGGEST BRIBE in SUPREME COURT

CJ Maraga says he is not aware of the said matter and that the lawyer has deliberately been tarnishing his name on social media platforms. He says he had told the lawyer on severe occasions to take the matter before the Judicial Sevice Commission with no success.

When CJ Maraga took over the helm of the Judiciary, he embarked on demolishing a clique of cartels who had held Judiciary by the balls and always determined the outcome of any given case. Seems some were hurt and trying to strike back.
David Maraga officially handed over instruments of power and proceeded to retirement on January 12, 2021. Maraga goes into retirement with his head held high, to be remembered as a man who stood against the bullying from the Executive and a man who spoke his mind.
