I said everything I have to say about real football. I don’t see real football anymore. Young players today think about other things.
When I was young, I trained to become someone who will always be admired in sports. After a training session with Lazio and the German national team, I jumped up into a bath full of ice to avoid injuries. The young players of the team refused and when they saw me picking up the ball bag they said, ‘Who made you do that? I am dead tired!’
At the time I thought to myself, ‘ Your 20 years old and you cant help the 60-year-old equipment manager who carries your staff every day?’
Young players worry much about the money they get. I saw these things that’s when I told myself its time to stop. The football-like robbery doesn’t exist anymore there are other things today.
They only think about fast cars, what they are going to receive, and jerseys with their names on them. After all this, after all these superficial things they now think about the game. Their image is more important that’s why I became fed up. That’s why I said enough is enough.
The only thing that was married to me was football in its purest form. Miroslav Klose was able to move mountains thanks to this state of mind. He might not be the strongest Stricker, he might not the most elegant player but he was determined and professional.
Klose’s professionalism made him make it to the top of the world of football and become one of the legends of Bayern Munich and the German national team. He is also the world cup goal top scorer of all time with 16 goals putting him ahead of legends like Ronaldo and Pele. The only thing that mattered to him was football at its purest form and all young footballers around the world should be inspired by him
