Accra Road In Nairobi Renamed Kenneth Matiba

The Nairobi County Assembly passed a motion two weeks ago to rename Accra Road within Nairobi Central Business District to Kenneth Matiba Road.

“This assembly urges the county executive and the Nairobi Metropolitan services to rename Accra road in Nairobi Central ward to Kenneth Matiba Road in honor of the pro-democracy icon. He was a pioneer in pressing the return of multiparty democracy in the1990s,” Daniel Ngegi the MCA said.

On Tuesday Roads and transport Executive, Muhammed Dagane supervised the erection of the new signpost written Kenneth Matiba Road.

A number of roads and streets in the city have been renamed and named after prominent people in the country as a sign of honor. Kapiti crescent road in south B was also renamed in the honor of the late football legend Joe Kadenge.
