The ministry of education has introduced a new formula for form one school selection process. The process is to encourage fairness in the selection of schools and placement.

The Cs George Magoha said that the new process would ensure students get a chance in the national and country schools. “We want a system that will pick the best brains from Kiandutu slums in Thika and take them to Alliance Girls High school,” said Mr. Magoha.

According to previous years, the process of selection and placement of schools was determined by parents and candidates. They would select their preferred schools.

The form one selection process is usually influenced by candidate’s choices, regional balance, and process to favor candidates in regional areas. Regional balance helps students who topped in their counties or get a chance to land in national schools.

During the release of KCPE results, Magoha assured there would be a 100 percent transmission of all candidates into secondary schools.

“Wish to assure the country that the Ministry has already conducted an audit of all new and existing vacancies in all our private and public schools to enable us to admit all learners under the Free Day Secondary Education program. We are determined to work with the relevant agencies to ensure that no candidate misses a place in secondary school,” he said.

He also announced that the government would give 9,000 scholarships to students from needy backgrounds.
