How powerful is your passport? Do you know which country tops the world with the most powerful passports? Did you know that among the top 10 most powerful passports in the world, there is no single African country?

According to the migration and citizenship consultancy, Henley & Partners, which compiles a list of the world’s most potent passports four times a year, Japan has the most powerful passport in the world.

With a total of 193 potential visa-free destinations, Japanese passports are ranked the highest. Just one point behind is Singapore, with Germany and South Korea tied at third place. With a Japanese passport, one can visit at least 193 countries.

Here are the top 10 countries with powerful passports in the world:

  3. South Korea
  4. Germany
  5. Italy
  6. Finland
  7. Spain
  8. Luxembourg
  9. Denmark
  10. Australia

At the same time, the countries with the lowest visa-free travel capability are Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, and Iraq. At the bottom of the list, Afghanistan allows visa-free travel to 26 countries, compared with Japan’s 193.

Kenyan citizens can travel visa-free and obtain a visa on arrival to 72 countries out of 218 according to the 2021 Henley Passport Index and Global Mobility Report.

The dream of making Africa a one trading bloc where inhabitants can move freely from one country to another has always been hindered by laws and regulations, some being the requirement of a visa to visit a country.

In Kenya, some nationals need a Visa to visit the country while some are exempted. Nationals who are exempted from applying for Visa can visit Kenya using passports from the countries.
