Education CS George Magoha has announced that form one students will report for admissions in various schools on August 2, 2021.
Speaking at the launch of the Form One selection results exercise, on June 15, Magoha said that a total of 585,942 girls compared to 585,323 boys would be joining Form One.
According to the CS, form one selection and placement have been completed with all candidates placed in government schools.
Magoha affirmed that the Education ministry kept its promise in ensuring a credible and trustworthy process in the selection phase
At the beginning of this month, officials from the Ministry of Education converged in Naivasha for the form one placement exercise. The officials had pledged to release the placements in two weeks’ time where the approximately 1.18 million KCPE candidates were to know the schools they join.

“We have strictly applied the principles of equity, fairness, merit, transparency, inclusiveness and affirmative action in the form one selection and that is why the placement has taken longer,” Magoha stated
A total of 1,191,616 candidates had registered for the exam but 12,424 were absent during the examination period due to different circumstances.
“In keeping with the 100 percent transition in public schools, 1,171,625 candidates have been placed in secondary schools. This is after excluding inmates, overage candidates, and candidates from refugee camps,” he affirmed
Of the 1,179,192 pupils who sat the KCPE exams most of them; 889,011, scored below 300 out of 500 marks. There were 8,091 candidates who scored over 400 marks with the top candidate, Mumo Faith attaining 433 marks.
Education CS George Magoha added that out of the 1.18 million candidates who sat the KCPE 2020 exams, 53,000 candidates had applied for the Elimu Scholarship Programme under the Ministry.
The CS further stamped his authority by banning the hiring of school buses for private events. He entailed that those who sought services of school buses had to get authorized by the education ministry
To receive the form one selection results, one should send an SMS to 22263 detailing the candidate’s Index Number. The SMS costs Sh25.
At the same time, Prof. George Magoha announced a ban on the hiring of school buses for private events as a means of protecting learners from COVID-19.

According to the CS, anybody seeking services of school buses must get authority from the Ministry of Education.
“For the avoidance of doubt, school buses are to carry children using COVID-19 protocols, action is to be taken against anybody using the buses for any other reason,” he said.
“We will not sit and allow people to misuse facilities of our children…We will give authorization from Jogoo house, it does not matter if you are a government official.”
